1. CTD Break New ground in the South-West 25/09/09
CTD commenced work on their new training centre on Friday 25th September. The new Westerleigh site is situated just outside Bristol and is very accessible to the whole region. CTD decided to expand into the South-West in response to demand from existing clients and also a high level of interest from potential ones in the Bristol area.
CTD Managing Director, Rod Hall stated ‘The new training centre will offer the same quality and range of training as the Bournemouth site, we are very excited about the expansion and look forward to building relationships with companies across the South-West. We plan to be fully operational before the end of the year – thanks, in part, to the continued support of Holt JCB’
2. A First in Wales for CTD 25/09/09
CTD have just carried out their first training sessions in Wales. The Manual Handling courses were held in Swansea for Western Electrical Alliance and Morrison Utility Services and from the candidates feedback, proved a great success. CTD were recommended for the training by Jo Wilkins of Morrison Utility Services who had been impressed by the presentations and facilities she saw at the Open Day in Bournemouth earlier in the month.
3. CTD Open Day Celebrates Training Partnership
with Scottish and Southern Energy Utility Service 03/09/09
CTD held a very successful Open Day last week to celebrate their training relationship with SSE US.
Speakers included CPCS Area Manager, Brian Pells and SSE US Regional Unit Manager Alan White who said ‘We are delighted with CTD’s approach. The courses are of a high standard and tailored to meet our needs – and staff feedback has been remarkable’. The event, which celebrated the completion of Daniel Welsh’s Plant NVQ Level 2, the first one by a SSE US Employee with CTD, also gave guests the opportunity of touring CTDs extensive training facilities.
Rod Hall, Managing Director of CTD, said ‘I would like to thank SSE US and everyone else who came today – talking to new and existing clients is the best way of making sure CTD continue to develop training programmes to meet their needs – it has been an informative and enjoyable day’. The well attended event included representatives from Bournemouth and West Hants Water, Scotia Gas Networks, Carillion and Chichester College. Also present were guests from the Bristol area, including South Gloucestershire Services and Morrison Utility Services, where CTD will shortly be opening a new training centre.
4. Training and Development - a lifelong activity
As part of our commitment to training and personal development within the company, two of our experienced trainers, Paul Crabb and David Blake have recently completed the Preparing to Teach in the Lifelong Learning Sector (C&G 7303) course and three more will be attending in November. Paul Crabb and Keith Ager have also completed the new RD 4000 course, The Radiodetection RD4000 cable and pipe locator is highly rated within the industry and has the highest locate performance.
5. CTD Supports the Stars of the Future 07/09 – 08/09
CTD was pleased to offer our support to Star Trail 2009, a talent competition which was held at the Bournemouth Pier Theatre in August. In all the competition consisted of nine shows and over 80 hopeful acts. In addition to helping showcase a huge range of local talent, the audiences raised £730 for ‘Help for Heroes’.

6. German football tournament win for Dorchester Town Under 13 Stars
Dorchester Town Under 13 Stars travelled to Lubbecke in Germany for a football tournament in May and were one of over a dozen teams to take part. CTD, who sponsor the team, are delighted to announce that they returned victorious – congratulations to all the team, coaches and supporters. We wish them good luck for the coming season. |
